How to preserve your chutney for long time?

There are two steps to make chutney - the cooking process and the storage process. Once your chutney is cooked, it's understandable that you think "Job done". However, the way you store your chutney can have a big impact on its shelf life, giving it time to mature and take on those wonderful flavors.

To solve this problem, we've found some easy ways and tips to store chutneys, and that too without adding artificial preservatives. Want to know what these suggestions are? Read on!

Most of us just consider putting it in an airtight jar and keeping it in the refrigerator. But this makes the delicious chutney lose its earthy flavor and freshness. If not, the chutney becomes unpleasant after some time if it is not stored properly. To avoid all these hassles and struggles and make your favorite chutney again, we are here to give you some tips and recommend some chutney glass containers for you.

Dip the Chutney Glass Jars in Hot Water:

Take a large container fill it halfway with water and let it boil. It will take about 5-6 minutes. Once the water has boiled, carefully take out your clean glass jars and place them in the container filled with hot water. Leave the jars in the container for about 3-5 minutes. Carefully remove the jars using tongs. Now, place the jars on a flat surface, clean them properly with a paper towel, half-fill them with chutney, and close the lid tightly. Store in the fridge and you're good to go! Make sure the lid is also slightly warm before you put it on. Meanwhile, wipe clean and dry with a paper towel.

Chutney Cubes:

This may seem strange, but trust us, this method works wonders. For this, you first need to coat an ice tray with some oil, pour fresh chutney into each cube, and freeze. Remove the cubes an hour before serving and enjoy the fresh flavor.

Mustard Oil Tadka:

Mustard oil has powerful antimicrobial and antifungal properties. This prevents the formation of any mold or bacterial growth in the condiment. It forms a protective layer between the air and the chutney to fight against airborne bacteria. This increases the shelf life of the condiment and does not allow bacteria to deteriorate its quality. Once the chutney is ready, add hot mustard oil and cover.

Tips for Sweet Chutneys:

If you are preparing sweet and sour chutney and want to increase the shelf life of your homemade condiments. Then you can add some syrup or molasses as it helps to keep it fresh for a long time.
